Your Role as a Financial Analyst

Caliber Engineering Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and analytically driven Financial Analyst to join our growing team. In this role, you will serve as the financial backbone of project execution — owning the accuracy of forecasts, budgets, and spend tracking across a portfolio of utility infrastructure and engineering projects. You will work closely with Project Managers, finance leadership, and client stakeholders to ensure every dollar is accounted for and every risk is visible before it becomes a problem.

This is a high-visibility role for someone who takes pride in precision, communicates financial complexity with clarity, and is eager to grow within a fast-moving, mission-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full financial lifecycle of projects from setup through close-out, including system entry, review of initial submission materials for accuracy and completeness, and ongoing project accounting.
  • Serve as a financial partner to Project Managers and leadership — translating data into actionable insights and maintaining clear alignment on budgets, forecasts, and spend.
  • Own the accuracy of financial forecasting by actively integrating data from project progress reports, material tracking, and spend authorizations into rolling monthly forecasts.
  • Monitor individual project financials monthly, identifying emerging risks and variances early and escalating proactively to resolve them before they impact outcomes.
  • Coordinate and review spend authorization requests for projects exceeding $100K, maintaining proper financial controls and documentation.
  • Conduct monthly budget check-ins with department leadership — comparing latest estimates to actuals, surfacing risks and opportunities, and supporting informed decision-making.
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records to support timely invoicing, reporting, and project close-out.
  • Continuously look for opportunities to improve financial workflows, reporting tools, and dashboard capabilities.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Brings hands-on experience in project-based financial analysis, ideally within utilities, engineering, construction, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Is highly skilled in forecasting, budgeting, and tracking complex project spend — with a rigorous attention to detail and a zero-tolerance mindset for inaccuracy.
  • Communicates financial information clearly and confidently to non-finance audiences, from field project managers to executive leadership.
  • Approaches problem-solving proactively — identifying discrepancies before they escalate and working collaboratively to resolve them.
  • Carries a growth mindset: curious, self-improving, and eager to enhance tools, processes, and their own capabilities over time.
  • Thrives in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment and manages competing priorities with composure and organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in project financial analysis or accounting, preferably in utilities, engineering, or infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience managing financial forecasting and spend tracking for projects exceeding $100K.
  • Proficiency with project accounting systems and financial tools; advanced Excel skills required.
  • Experience with ERP platforms or project management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Procore, or similar) is a plus.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $63,000 – $90,000  annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
